Pooraka Cricket Club

We have booked a club function at Angle Park (Greyhound Racing SA) for Thursday 20th November. Those who have attended the previous functions there will know how enjoyable they can be, so please make sure you keep this night open. More details will be released soon.

Through the efforts of our new chairman, Bill Kirkwood, we have raised close to $2000 cooking the BBQ on Sundays for the junior football and poker players. Rocco Calabria has also raised some money selling lucky squares at the poker.

We are also in the process of delivering leaflets to the good people of Pooraka, Mawson Lakes, Montague Farm, Walkleys Heights and Ingle Farm. We have had some help from players and supporters but still need more if we are going to finish by early September. It will take you less than one hour to complete a round, so please call Michael Mulholland on 0412 472 874 if you can help. We have already received a number of enquiries as a result of these leaflets.

We have been able to pick up a few new sponsors but are still looking for more. If you know someone who might be able to sponsor us, please call Bill Kirkwood on 0404 951 196.

The committee is still looking for more support from players and supporters. We have a number of ideas to help raise money and improve the club, but without help we will not be able to implement them. Once again, if you think you could offer us some help, call Bill.

Finally, training has now begun (click here for details) and we want to see good numbers at these sessions.

Junior Pre Season Update

We will be nominating a record five junior sides in 2008 / 09

Under 11 - playing on Sunday mornings

Under 13 - playing on Saturday mornings

Under 13 - playing on Sunday mornings

Under 15 - playing on Saturday mornings

Under 15 - playing on Sunday afternoons

I am pleased to announce that Steve Simmonds has offered to coach the Saturday Under 15's side, and hopefully have found someone to coach the Under 11's. However, we still need coaches and / or team managers for the remaining three sides. I am confident that we will find people to volunteer for these roles, but if we can't, we will not be able to field all five teams. If you think you can help us, please call our Junior Co-Ordinator, Michael Mulholland, on 0412 472 874. You don't need any experience and our senior coach and committee will give you all the help you need.

Subs this year will be $85 per player (Family discounts will apply). Once again a Pooraka Cricket Club hat is included in your fees, but this year we are also able to include a playing top for no extra charge. Both the shirt and cap will be available before the first game.

Junior Pre Season training will be as follows :

Sunday 14th September 10am - 11:30am

Sunday 21st September 10am - 11:30am

After this training will be broken up into respective teams / age groups.
